Accused Kid-Nibbler Brandished Gun at Mom and Daughter

(PatriotWise.com) — A 66-year-old Maryland man was arrested on Halloween after allegedly nibbling on the ear of a girl who came to his door while trick-or-treating. The man then followed the girl home and pointed a gun at her mother, pulling the trigger, CBS News reported.

Anne Arundel County Police charged Severn, Maryland resident Cedrick Steven Paines with a weapons violation and first-degree assault, according to charging documents.

Paines is accused of nibbling the girl’s ear as she was on his doorstep, trick-or-treating.

According to the charging documents, when the girl ran home, Paines followed after her and attempted to gain access to her house.

As the girl’s mother stopped him from entering, Paines pulled a handgun with a loaded magazine from his waistband. Paines then pointed the weapon at the girl’s mother and pulled the trigger. However, the weapon did not fire.

Paines then returned home, where he was taken into custody by officers. In a search of his property, the officers seized a shotgun, a .22 caliber rifle, and two handguns.

Paines later spoke to the local CBS affiliate, WJZ News, denying the charges. He claimed that he was only trying to tell the girl a secret.

Anne Arundel County Police have asked anyone who may have additional information about the incident to contact the police at (410) 222-6155.
