(PatriotWise.com) — New regulations proposed by the Biden administration would make it illegal for schools to prevent males from entering female sporting competitions. The new rules state that schools may not place blanket bans on males who identify as female in female sports but judge each instance on a case-by-case basis. The government created the regulations under Title IX legislation that prohibits discrimination on the grounds of gender.
The Department of Education stated, “The proposed rule … recognizes that in some instances, particularly in competitive high school and college athletic environments, some schools may adopt policies that limit transgender students’ participation.”
The move comes as a growing number of states legislate to protect women’s sports from male competitors with a physical strength advantage. Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is also poised to introduce a bill entitled The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. The proposals have the backing of college swimmer Riley Gaines, who alleges she was assaulted by a male transexual after speaking out against men in women’s swimming contests.
Gaines attended San Francisco State University to speak on her experiences of competing against transgendered swimmer William Thomas. Video footage shows students drowning out Ms. Gaines’ speech with chants of “trans rights are human rights.” She said she was ambushed and assaulted by activists and forced to barricade herself inside a room for three hours for her own protection.
The swimmer threatened legal action against San Francisco State when its Vice President for Student Affairs Jamillah Moore praised the protestors and said events had passed off peacefully.
“Something needs to be done to hold these people accountable, whether it be the student body, the administration…they need to realize is that what happened to me was violent, was completely wrong and it was criminal,” Gaines said.
She described her alleged assailant as a “guy in a dress” and said he hit her in the shoulder and the face before a security officer came to her aid.
