Caught Stealing From Walmart, Woman Tries To Eat Counterfeit Money

( — A Florida woman who was caught attempting to steal over $800 in merchandise from a Miami-Dade Walmart attempted to get rid of a stack of counterfeit bills in her possession by trying to eat the evidence, Local10 in Miami reported.

According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, 38-year-old Zipporah Abraham of North Miami Beach was doing a little holiday shoplifting at a Walmart Supercenter at around 10:20 a.m. on Sunday when police discovered that she was in possession of fake bills.

According to police, Abraham was observed on surveillance footage by the store’s loss prevention officers while she was concealing several items in a storage bin. She then paced around near the entrance of the store, waiting for a chance to flee with her stolen booty.

Before she could make her escape, Abraham was stopped by store security, who took her to the loss prevention office, where they detained her while waiting for Miami-Dade Police to arrive.

According to the police, the items Abraham concealed inside the storage bin were valued at about $865.

When the officer from the Miami-Dade Police arrived at the loss prevention office, he instructed Abraham to remove her jewelry before he took her into custody.

Knowing the counterfeit bills would put her in even more hot water, Abraham removed about $200 worth of phony money from her person, jammed them into her mouth, and attempted to swallow them.

Abraham was arrested on felony grand theft charges and uttering forged bills.

According to court records, Abraham has a history of arrests for theft in Miami-Dade County. Police said the loss prevention officers who monitored her on the store’s surveillance recognized her as a serial thief.

Abraham is being held on a $10,000 bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
