(PatriotWise.com) — Florida Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna accused a Democrat opposition research firm of being responsible for the improper release of the US Air Force service records of 11 Republicans during the 2022 Midterm elections and suggested that she may be among those whose records were leaked to the press.
The US Air Force conducted an internal audit after the service records of congressional candidate Jennifer-Ruth Green were obtained by Due Diligence, a Democrat opposition research group the midterm elections. Green’s service records, which revealed that she had been a victim of sexual assault while in the Air Force, were later published in Politico.
Due Diligence has received funds from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).
The internal audit from October 2021 to October 2022 found that Air Force personnel failed to follow proper policies when they released the service records without first receiving the service member’s authorized signature.
In a statement last week, a spokeswoman for the US Air Force said the audit found no evidence that the improper release was politically motivated, nor was it done with “malicious intent,” CNN reported.
While the names of all 11 Republicans whose records were accessed have not been publicly released, Congressmen Dan Bacon (R-NE) and Zach Nunn (R-IA) said the US Air Force notified them that their records were accessed during the midterms, Politico reported.
In a now-deleted tweet on Monday, Congresswoman Luna claimed that she had “reason to believe” that her Air Force service records were among the eleven leaked to Due Diligence and suggested that the breach could lead to a “criminal investigation.”
In a follow-up interview with Fox News Digital Monday evening, Luna revealed that during the midterms, she was contacted by one of her former supervisors in the Air Force who told her that a reporter had been asking questions about Luna’s time in the service and acknowledged having access to her service records.
