Congresswoman Blocks Names Of 13 Dead Service Members From Being Read On House Floor

( After President Biden’s disastrous visit with the families of the thirteen American service members killed in the Kabul terror attack, Democrats really should’ve found a way to save face. And thanks to about thirty Republican House members, the perfect opportunity presented itself on August 31. But the Democrats squandered it.

During a pro-forma session, Republican House members, many of them Afghanistan veterans, gathered on the House floor to introduce a bill demanding accountability from the Biden administration for its handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal. And after the session was gaveled in, these Republicans asked to be recognized in order to read the names of the 13 fallen.

According to Florida Congressman Brian Mast, himself a combat veteran who was wounded in Afghanistan, Democrats didn’t even acknowledge them. Instead, the session was gaveled out by Democrat Congresswoman Debbie Dingell of Michigan, who was presiding over the chamber at the time.

One member shouted at Dingle “How can you not read the names?” Another yelled “Turn your back on our country!”

In a press conference on September 1, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy excoriated Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi for ignoring the Republicans when they tried to introduce the bill.

While Republicans expected the Democrats to block the bill seeking accountability from the Biden White House, they were nonetheless stunned at the refusal to even read the names of the thirteen killed in Kabul into the House record.

Gold Star mom Shana Chappell had accused President Biden of turning his back on her and walking away. And the Democrats in the House turned their backs and walked away rather than read the name of Shana’s son and the other twelve fallen from the House floor.

Worse still, the Democrats refuse to address the myriad of failures that led to the catastrophic withdrawal in Afghanistan.

While they are willing to endlessly investigate a three-hour riot on January 6, they are completely unwilling to demand accountability from the White House for a withdrawal that left 13 American service members dead, hundreds of Americans stranded, and US weapons and equipment in the hands of the Taliban terrorists.

It is without question that, had this catastrophe happened under President Donald Trump, Nancy Pelosi would have spared not a single moment before calling for investigations. She herself would have made a great performance out of honoring the thirteen who were killed.
