(PatriotWise.com)- Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat running for Governor of Michigan, referred to women as “menstruating people” during a recent Zoom event by the Michigan Democratic Party.
Reports show that Whitmer was questioned over a plan to guarantee access to abortion if the Supreme Court reverses Roe v. Wade by adding a provision to the Michigan state constitution.
Erica, Director of Voter Protection for the Michigan Democratic Party, enquired of the Governor about what might they anticipate if Roe v. Wade is overturned and whether she can still defend reproductive rights? Governor Whitmer said she and her staff examined all of her tools as Governor and identified a few unique things she could do.
Whitmer suggested she had the legal authority to file a lawsuit to defend the constitutional rights of Michigan citizens. Therefore, she filed a lawsuit on behalf of Michigan’s 2.2 million menstruating people. Another option she had was to approach the state Supreme Court directly.
The Reproductive Freedom For All amendment proposal won’t be on the ballot unless the requisite number of valid petition signatures are gathered and verified by the board of state canvassers by July 11, in accordance with state law.
According to news reports, the remarks echoed those made by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who received criticism for referring to a woman as a “menstruating person” last year.
Whitmer’s opponents from the Republican party reacted swiftly to her remarks.
A spokeswoman for Kevin Rinke told Fox News that Governor Whitmer and her entire administration have demonstrated they are on the extreme, fringe Left regarding every topic. This government has lost sight of the Michiganders suffering under their failing leadership, and the Governor is making up her own anatomy course.
Tudor Dixon spoke to a media outlet and wondered if the left had gone crazy. She suggested someone do a mental health check on the Democrat Party. It’s beginning to look more and more like COVID was similar to mad cow disease, she joked.
Pastor Ralph Rebandt referred to Whitmer’s remarks as well. He stated that a moral breakdown in our culture is demonstrated by Governor Whitmer’s use of politically correct terminology.
He concluded that a civilization that rejects the ‘Laws of Nature’ eventually will reject ‘Nature’s God,’ as we did sixty years ago.
The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last week, sending abortion issues back to the states.
