Doctored Photo Leads To Racism Allegations

(PatriotWise.com) – France’s former first lady Carla Bruni sparked outrage after she posted a Photoshopped image of Meghan Markle as Yoko Ono on Instagram.

Last Monday, Bruni, the wife of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, shared a picture of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle taken in 2018, in which Meghan’s head was replaced with the head of Yoko Ono.

Bruni was comparing Meghan to Yoko, whose relationship with John Lennon is often cited as the cause of the Beatles breaking up in 1970.

Does Bruni have a point? Meghan, like Yoko, has been accused of placing a wedge between Prince Harry and the Royal Family. It isn’t hard to compare the two.

But according to the UK Daily Mail, Bruni’s Instagram post set off a firestorm from the usual “well-I-nevering” outrage mob, with many of them accusing Bruni of being racist.

One of the people replying to the post accused white people like Bruni of “continuing to blame” women of color for the decisions made by their white partners. The user claimed that white people never blame the white partner, only the partner of color.

Another Instagram user even went so far as to accuse Bruni of attempting to incite violence against Meghan Markle, arguing that Yoko was attacked in the same way and John Lennon ended up getting shot to death.

Another user decided to defend Yoko, arguing that she had nothing to do with the break-up of the Beatles.

But not everyone was such a humorless scold.

Some of the people defended Bruni, pointing out the blazingly obvious that A) it was a joke and B) Harry’s relationship with Meghan Markle did drive a wedge between him and his family.

But in the end, the backlash, and resulting media reports about the backlash, appears to have been too much for Bruni. Just hours after posting the Photoshopped image, Bruni deleted it from her Instagram account.
