Donald Trump’s Unveils New Goal To Take Down The GOP Establishment

( Former President Donald Trump isn’t so much fighting against Democrats running for office, he’s fighting against Republicans who he doesn’t think are a good fit for his own party.

Since leaving the White House in December, Trump has been hard at work to “cleanse” the Republican Party of what he refers to as the establishment politicians. That means he’s targeting people who didn’t fall in line behind his policies while he was president, and boosting up people who have or who he believes will in the future.

As he said through a statement released by his Save America PAC in early September:

“If we didn’t have RINOs, the Republican Party would totally dominate politics. The good news is there are far less than there were four years ago — it is a dying breed — but nevertheless, and unfortunately, they still exist!”

The Wall Street Journal reported over the weekend that Trump is hard at work trying to find a viable replacement for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. He’s been working hard to try to find someone to knock McConnell from that leadership position, and replace him with someone who would align more with Trump’s ideas.

In August, Trump released a statement that blasted the Senate minority leader, saying:

“I have quietly said for years that Mitch McConnell is the most overrated man in politics — now I don’t have to be quiet anymore.”

One month before that, Trump said:

“Under the weak leadership of Mitch McConnell, Senate Republicans continue to lose. He lost Arizona, he lost Georgia, he ignored Election Fraud and he doesn’t fight.”

Lindsay Wise and Michael Bender of the Journal described in more detail Trump’s plan to oust McConnell. In their story, they wrote:

“Mr. Trump has spoken recently with senators and allies about trying to depose Mr. McConnell and whether any Republicans are interested in mounting a challenge, according to people familiar with the conversations. There is little appetite among Senate Republicans for such a plan, lawmakers and aides said, but the discussions risk driving a wedge deeper between the most influential figure in the Republican Party and its highest-ranking member in elected office.”

But, McConnell isn’t the only RINO that Trump is after. He’s already backed a challenger to Alaska incumbent Senator Lisa Murkowski, who must run for re-election during the 2022 midterm elections. Murkowski was one Republican senator who voted to convict Trump during his impeachment trial earlier this year.

The former president also celebrated the retirement announced of Representative Anthony Gonzalez, a Republican from Ohio who voted to impeach Trump. He issued a statement following that announcement that was celebratory. It read:

“RINO Congressman Anthony Gonzalez, who has poorly represented his district in the Great State of Ohio, has decided to quit after enduring a tremendous loss of popularity, of which he had little, since his ill-informed and otherwise very stupid impeachment vote against the sitting President of the United States, me.”

No Republican is safe if they dare to cross Trump, or not support him.
