(PatriotWise.com) — Twitter boss Elon Musk has added his voice to calls for the so-called “QAnon Shaman” to be released from prison following the publication of previously unseen footage from Capitol Hill on January 6th, 2021. The “Shaman” is Navy veteran Jacob Chansley from Colorado who was jailed for 4 years for his role in the day’s disorder in Washington, but recently released footage shows him walking through Congress buildings accompanied by police and being shown around the venue quietly and peacefully.
The footage was among almost 42,000 hours of tape given to Fox host Tucker Carlson by Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Carlson presented sections of the tape on his popular show Tucker Carlson Tonight, including the recording of Chansley.
Albert Watkins, the attorney who represented the military vet at his initial trial, told Carlson that the Justice Department had deliberately prevented him from seeing the footage, despite a legal duty to do so. He also said Chansley’s mental health was deteriorating and he had been held in solitary confinement. The mainstream media has accused Carlson of distortion and of misleading the public, despite a lack of evidence to back up this claim.
On his Twitter account, Musk echoed Carlson’s call for Chansley’s release and said, “Chansley got 4 years in prison for a non-violent, police-escorted tour!? Dave Chapelle was violently assaulted on stage by a guy with a knife. That guy got a $3000 fine & no prison time.”
He went on to add that he is not a supporter of the Trump MAGA movement, but he believes in fairness and justice. Musk stated that Chansley had been falsely portrayed as a “violent criminal” who tried to overthrow American democracy, when in fact recordings show him pleading with people to remain peaceful and walking quietly through the Capitol buildings.
Chansley was jailed for the charge of “knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, and with violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.”
