(PatriotWise.com) – According to the media and locals, an explosion was heard overnight on the grounds of a military installation in Klintsy, a town in southern Russia’s Bryansk region.
RBC Ukraine cited residents of Klintsy, a town of about 60,000 people, who claimed to have heard loud explosions that shook their homes. About 45 kilometers (28 miles) separate Klintsy from the Ukrainian border.
Several houses jumped, according to a local.
Residents who spoke with the Telegram channel Novosti Bryansk claimed that the explosions were “so powerful that they woke up the whole city.”
According to RBC, several locals in Klintsy claimed that a military unit experienced an explosion.
According to the Kremlin-friendly Russian news source Kommersant, Klintsy is the location of “military unit No. 12721.”
The Bryansk region village of Klimovo, which has a military airfield and unit, and is situated 30 kilometers (18 miles) from the Ukrainian border, also experienced explosions, according to the Telegram channel Readovka.
Klintsy was shelled by Ukraine overnight, according to a statement made on Tuesday by the governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz.
He claimed that a missile was shot down and that there were no injuries or property damage.
The governor posted on Telegram that the missile was destroyed as a result of the work of the air defense systems of the Russian Armed Forces; some parts hit the territory of an industrial zone.
However, a video that has been making the rounds on social media purports to show the damage left behind by an overnight missile strike.
A woman can be heard saying, “Here, consequences of the night arrival,” in the video posted by Twitter user Dmitri. WarTranslated is an independent project that translates English-language content about the war.
The woman said, panning the camera across a field with several military vehicles, “Shrapnel flew all the way there.” There is a sizable hole in the ground.
“Here, in the crater or pit, is a turned-over vehicle that we are unsure is a tank or not. And it’s not that far to our canteen. The damaged barracks are shown here,” she said.
Explosions were reported in Belgorod, close to Russia’s border with Ukraine, and in Crimea, the Black Sea peninsula that Russian President Vladimir Putin annexed.
