(PatriotWise.com) — The wife and two sons of a Bunnell, Florida, man killed while on vacation in Dixie County in 2021, were arrested and charged with tampering with evidence last week in connection to his murder investigation, News 6 in Orlando reported.
According to a statement from the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office, Cindy Rainey and her sons Bailey and Jack were arrested in Flagler County and Orange County last week in relation to the murder of David Rainey.
Rainey was reported missing by his wife on July 25, 2021, while the family was vacationing in Suwannee. That evening, Dixie County Sheriff’s investigators found Rainey in the canal behind the family’s holiday rental, dead of multiple stab wounds to the chest.
Investigators determined that Rainey had been stabbed and then dumped in the water.
Last Wednesday, investigators from the sheriff’s office traveled to Bunnell, and with the assistance of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, they arrested Cindy and Bailey Rainey.
Dixie County Sheriff’s investigators then arrested Jack Rainey in Orlando with the help of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
The Raineys were charged only with tampering with evidence, according to the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office.
It is unclear if further charges will be filed against any of the Raineys.
