(PatriotWise.com) — Whistleblowers claim that FBI agents were offered cash bonuses to carry out surveillance. Special agents in charge (SACs) can qualify for the year-end bonus if they encourage the deployment of specific law enforcement tools, including wiretaps. The claims are contained within a report produced by the House Judiciary Committee and Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, chaired by Republican Jim Jordan and established to investigate the use of federal agencies by Democrats to silence and demonize conservatives.
The report is entitled FBI Whistleblower Testimony Highlights Government Abuse, Misallocation of Resources, and Retaliation. Among the claims are that the FBI field office in Washington, DC, “pressured” a field office in Boston to open investigations into people who traveled to the nation’s capital on January 6th, 2021, but without any “specific indication that these people were involved in any way in criminal activity.”
It also claims that the Bank of America supplied confidential customer information to the FBI following January 6th. The bank provided a list of people who had made financial transactions at its banks in Washington, DC, between January 5th and 7th. People who owned a firearm were elevated to the top of the list.
FBI leaders pressured agents to create cases of domestic violent extremism (DVE) where none existed, allegedly to flesh out the numbers of such cases for political reasons, the report also notes. Finally, the availability of cash bonuses meant senior FBI agents were not necessarily motivated by or focused on justice, but self-enrichment.
The report comes as the FBI is already under fire for behavior described in the recently-published Durham report. The feds were censured for launching an investigation into alleged collusion between Russia and former President Donald Trump without any prior evidence. “The Department of Justice and the FBI failed to uphold their important mission of strict fidelity to the law,” the report found.
Last year, the federal agency was found to have paid Twitter to censor stories harmful to Joe Biden’s campaign in 2020.
