Governor Sarah Sanders Calls In Lawyers Against EPA

( — Republican Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she is suing the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) after it rejected her state’s plan to comply with revised ozone regulations. Sanders said she had promised the people of Arkansas that she would stop “the meddling big hand of government” and she intends to keep that promise. “I have asked Attorney General Griffin to sue the EPA to get the overregulating, micromanaging bureaucratic tyrants in Washington off of Arkansans’ backs,” she told reporters in Little Rock.

The EPA has rejected Arkansas’s proposal to meet its requirements regarding pollution. Federal rules require states to take action to ensure that their industrial sites and power plants do not cause pollution in neighboring states. The rejection means that the federal government will now step in and take the required action instead. Sanders says this threatens her state’s critical industries and amounts to government overreach.

The plans were initially submitted in 2019 but the Governor said the federal government will not allow her to revise them.

Huckabee Sanders is a rising star among Republicans and a key player in its war on “woke” culture. When elected last year, she immediately took the reigns and, like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, banned the teaching of left-wing philosophy in schools. She drew criticism however for her response to the President’s State of the Union address in early February. In it, she launched a blistering attack on Washington and the Biden administration and said most Americans simply want to live in peace and freedom and not have leftist ideals imposed upon them. “The dividing line in America is no longer between right and left – it’s between normal or crazy,” she said. Former Trump advisor Steve Bannon stated that she had given the wrong rebuttal and should not have focused on culture wars. He also criticized the fact that she did not mention Donald Trump in her speech. Sanders first came to prominence as White House Press Secretary during the Trump administration and Bannon said she would not “exist politically” if not for Donald Trump.
