(PatriotWise.com) — The 33-year-old son of former wrestler Hulk Hogan was arrested in Clearwater, Florida, last Saturday and charged with driving under the influence, NBC News reported.
Nicholas Bollea was pulled over by a police sergeant on Gulf to Bay Boulevard after he failed to clear the lane for three patrol vehicles that were conducting a traffic stop, according to the arrest affidavit.
The sergeant who pulled Bollea over reported that he showed signs of impairment and had done poorly when the sergeant conducted field sobriety tests. Bollea refused to do the breathalyzer test despite the strong odor of alcohol on his breath and his unsteady balance.
He was arrested at 1:42 a.m. and charged with a misdemeanor of driving under the influence and refusing to take a breath alcohol content test. According to online records, Bollea was later released on a $500 bond assessment.
Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, owns the bar Hogan’s Hangout in Clearwater.
This wasn’t the first time the wrestler’s son was involved in a traffic incident in Clearwater.
In August 2007, Bollea was involved in a crash in which a passenger was critically injured. According to the report in Reuters at the time, Bollea had been driving recklessly when his vehicle crashed, injuring John Graziano, 22, who was in the vehicle with Bollea. Witnesses described seeing two cars racing each other before Bollea’s car slammed into a tree. Graziano’s injuries were severe. According to the Reuters report, he was placed on life support due to brain injuries.
Bollea turned himself into authorities and pleaded no contest to a charge of reckless driving with serious bodily harm. He was sentenced in 2008 to eight months in jail. He was also given 5 years of probation and was ordered to perform 500 hours of community service. His driver’s license was suspended for three years.
