Indiana Jones Returns In New Trailer

(PatriotWise.com) — The official trailer for a new Indiana Jones installment has been released. Harrison Ford, who is now 80, has picked up his famous whip for the fifth movie in the franchise. Phoebe Waller-Bridge will play Jones’ goddaughter, who persuades the adventurous archaeologist to come out of retirement to search for the Dial of Destiny.

The newest entry in the series features recreations of some of the most iconic scenes in the decades-old franchise. Included is the famous scene featuring the main character running in front of a giant boulder.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be the final film in the series. There had been speculation that it would carry on without Ford and focus on the character played by Waller-Bridge, but owners Disney have confirmed this will be the last.

The franchise began in 1981 with the blockbuster Raiders of the Lost Ark. Following his success in Star Wars, the role would confirm Harrison Ford as a Hollywood legend. Three more hits soon followed: Indiana Jones And The Temple of Doom in 1984 and Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade in 1989. Installment number four arrived almost 20 years later in 2008’s Indiana Jones And The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull.

Harrison Ford is one of the world’s most popular actors. His films have grossed almost $10 billion. Born in Chicago and raised by an Irish/German father and a Belarussian mother, he left the Windy City for Los Angeles in 1964 and worked his way up with a series of advertisement and non-speaking roles. His big break came in 1977 when Star Wars director George Lucas hired him to read lines with auditioning actors. Lucas was so impressed he cast Ford as Han Solo.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May. It co-stars Mads Mikkelsen as the villain and is directed by James Mangold.

Mangold is best known for directing Girl, Interrupted in 1999, Walk the Line in 2005, and Logan in 2017.
