Jeff Bezos To Have Donald Trump’s Tapes

( It was reported this week that Amazon Studios has officially acquired the film studio Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) for a whopping $8.45 billion. This, despite the fact that last year MGM was reportedly valued at $5.5 billion. In recent years, both Apple and Comcast explored the possibility of purchasing MGM as well.

The MGM purchase is Amazon’s second-biggest acquisition ever – the first was its $13.7 Billion purchase of Whole Foods in 2017.

The deal will give Jeff Bezos’ streaming service the rights to MGM’s entire library of films and TV series. Additionally, the deal gives Amazon an opportunity to create more in-house programming using MGM’s library of well-known characters – which includes James Bond and Rocky.

But Late Night host Stephen Colbert has his own theory as to why Jeff Bezos might have been willing to pay out far more than what MGM was worth.

On his show Tuesday night, Colbert suggested the real reason for the purchase was to hand Jeff Bezos the rights to all footage from Donald Trump’s popular reality show “The Apprentice.”

For years Trump was dogged with accusations of making racist comments during the filming of the show.

“Holy mother of DVD extras!” Colbert joked.

Late night comedians just can’t quit President Trump.

Then again, neither can CNN.

While they got what they wanted and defeated Trump in November, they still cannot let go of their obsession with him.

Which may explain why, post-Trump, CNN has been in a rating freefall.

According to Neilsen Media Research, CNN has lost nearly 70% of its audience since January 2021. CNN’s primetime ratings (8:00 pm to 11:00 pm) have dropped 65%. But in the critical 25-54 demographic, the Trump-obsessed cable news network lost 71% of its viewers for both daytime and primetime programming.

While all cable news networks have experienced a ratings drop since January, CNN’s plummet is the worst. The openly far-Left MSNBC lost 49% of its viewers since January while Fox suffered a mere 12% drop.

Meanwhile, Colbert himself is feeling some heat as Fox News’ new late night show “Gutfeld!” is inching toward Colbert’s number one rated “Late Show.” As it is, “Gutfeld!” is already topping both Jimmy Kimmel Live and the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. And in the key 25-54 demographic, “Gutfeld!” is even beating Colbert.

Is it any wonder they’re still yammering on about Trump?
