(PatriotWise.com) — House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan confirmed last weekend that the House could be heading toward impeaching Attorney General Merrick Garland “at a pretty quick pace,” the Washington Examiner reported.
Jordan appeared on “Sunday Morning Futures” with host Maria Bartiromo to discuss last Wednesday’s House testimony from IRS whistleblowers Joe Ziegler and Gary Shapley.
When Bartiromo asked Jordan if he believed based on their testimony that he would impeach the attorney general, the Judiciary chair said that would be up to the full GOP House conference.
Jordan said Speaker Kevin McCarthy has made it clear that if an impeachment inquiry is warranted, “we will, in fact, do that,” adding that based on all of the evidence “piling up,” including the FD-1023 released by Senator Grassley, the whistleblower testimony, and the “conflicting statements” from the Department of Justice, “it sure looks like we’re moving in that direction at a pretty quick pace.”
Jordan said he sent a letter to Attorney General Garland in February to ask for a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden’s business deals but has not received a response. He added that he will write to Garland again and if he receives no response, he will contact US Attorney for Delaware David Weiss who is “supposedly handling the case.”
Later in the interview, Jordan suggested that the investigation into Hunter “could be more about the president himself.” However, he added that the Oversight Committee would have to complete its investigation before Congress decides “where we’ll go from there.”
While speaking to reporters at the Capitol on Tuesday, Speaker McCarthy said House Republicans may consider launching an impeachment inquiry into the president over the Biden family’s financial misconduct.
McCarthy explained that an impeachment inquiry would allow Congress “to get the information” it needs to “know the truth” about the Biden family’s business deals.
The speaker vowed that Congress would “follow this to the end.”
