(PatriotWise.com)- While the Democrats were proven wrong when they theorized that President Donald Trump worked with the Russians to win the 2016 election, it remains true that Russia regularly engages in espionage tactics and hacking attacks. And just this week, a devastating hack on the Colonial Pipeline prompted more questions for the Biden administration on how to stop foreign powers causing mayhem in the United States through hacking.
The hack on the Colonial Pipeline this week was claimed by DarkSide, a hacking and ransomware-as-a-service platform that first appeared n Russian language hacking forums back in 2020. On Wednesday, the hacking group also claimed to have attacked three further countries. The Colonial Pipeline hack caused panic buying of gasoline across the U.S. East Coast.
In response, President Joe Biden reiterated that hackers are coming from Russia and insisted that Moscow is responsible for the incident. Biden’s own rhetoric about the situation helped increase U.S. fuel prices.
While the situation with Russia is very real, President Joe Biden doesn’t have a good track record in dealing with the country and its subversive tactics. When the president called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “killer” earlier this year, he was easily dismissed with an offer to debate the issue on live television.
An offer our president obviously turned down. Presumably he wouldn’t have been allowed to use a teleprompter.
Biden recently placed new sanctions on Moscow in response to the 2020 SolarWinds hack that affected U.S. government agencies and American companies, with more than three dozen Russian entities and individuals targeted in the latest round of sanctions…which didn’t seem to work.
So far, the White House has remained fairly quiet about how the government intends to respond to the latest hack. Speculators suggest that Biden may send more American troops to Eastern Europe or even take direct military action against Russia, taking him closer to that war the Democrats claimed Trump would plunge us into.
