John Kerry Says Raising Oil Prices Will Increase Green Energy

( — John Kerry, dubbed the “climate czar” by conservatives, recently appeared on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” claiming that raising oil prices will increase green energy, according to Breitbart. The “Special Presidential Envoy for Climate” joined the left-wing talking points about competition between green energy such as wind and solar versus oil and gas.

Kerry stated that green energy will become more competitive as oil and gas companies increase their costs to continue spending on “carbon capture and storage and utilization.” The special envoy was positive about the future of green energy as he emphasized the progress being made on batteries and battery storage.

He claimed that the industry is creating jobs and economic opportunity as it continues to improve. He also talked about how electric vehicles are coming along greater than anticipated.

The Biden administration has been criticized for coercing state governments to join the green revolution. Republican lawmakers are taking him to task for introducing hostile regulations on gas-powered vehicles while looking to ban them completely in the next 10 years, according to Fox News.

His regulations will reportedly require automakers to reduce carbon emissions by 56%, which is speculated to cause manufacturers to build electric vehicles at a higher rate. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee ranking member John Barrasso criticized the policy, saying that making everything electric will only increase costs and reduce options.

As the United States moves away from gas-powered vehicles, countries like China, which produces nearly 80% of the world’s cell manufacturing capacity for electric vehicle batteries, will benefit. China also controls the mining and refining of batteries.

Mike Sommers, the president and CEO of the American Petroleum Institute, said that these policies will make the U.S. reliant on foreign countries. Last summer, amid skyrocketing inflation and gas prices, officials in the Biden administration told American citizens to just buy electric.
