John Kerry Spotted Shaking Dictator’s Hand
(PatriotWise.com) – At the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Egypt, U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry shook hands with the socialist dictator of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, on whom the United States now has a $15 million bounty.
Taking advantage of the climate conference while in town, Maduro is looking for worldwide recognition. He is not acknowledged as the legitimate president of Venezuela by the United States or most of the free world. Juan Guaidó is seen as the nation’s rightful president by the United States and many of the West. Following Maduro’s reluctance to relinquish power, the National Assembly, which was then governed by the opposition, appointed Guaidó to serve as Venezuela’s interim president in 2019. Guaidó’s position is still purely symbolic because he could not exercise any influence within the nation.
In 2020, federal prosecutors in the United States charged the communist dictator and several members of his administration with allegations of drug trafficking and narcoterrorism. High-ranking government officials and members of the Venezuelan military are allegedly involved in drug trafficking under Maduro’s leadership in the Cartel de los Soles (Cartel of the Suns).
The U.S. Department of State is offering a $15 million reward for information that results in Maduro’s capture and/or conviction.
In the social media videos, Maduro and Mara Quijada, Maduro’s official interpreter, can be seen having a brief talk with Kerry.
When questioned about the encounter between Kerry and Maduro during a press conference on Tuesday, Ned Price, a spokesman for the State Department, explained that it was “unplanned.”
In response to a question from a reporter, Price said, “Well, I think those of you who have seen the video will recognize that Nicolás Maduro, he interrupted what was an ongoing meeting at COP27 to engage Special Envoy Kerry, and this was very much an unplanned interaction, just in the same way that other world leaders have been presented with unplanned interactions from Nicolás Maduro. During COP27, he had a brief conversation with Special Envoy Kerry.
Price said, “This was not, as I stated before, planned or substantive in any manner. Regarding the COP, Maduro has regrettably presided over tremendous environmental devastation. As for that conversation, it was spontaneous and lackluster.
The socialist dictator Maduro met John Kerry for the first time in public. Kerry is a member of the Biden administration. In 2015, Maduro and Biden met face-to-face at the Brazilian inauguration of socialist President Dilma Rousseff. An ally of Maduro, Rousseff would later be removed from power by impeachment.
The Biden Administration sent official delegations to Venezuela throughout 2022 to talk about potential oil deals and a prisoner swap that saw the release of two of Maduro’s nephews who were found guilty of drug trafficking by a U.S. court in exchange for seven American oil workers who were detained in Venezuela
