(PatriotWise.com) — Senator Lindsey Graham snapped during a heated interview with Dana Bash on CNN’s “State of the Union,” according to Mediaite. Part of the interview focused on Graham’s crusade against late-term abortion and particularly the recent developments in the abortion pill mifepristone which is undergoing legal challenges.
Bash had reportedly asked the senator whether he agrees with Trump, that abortion should be relegated to the states, or with Pence, who wants to see abortion banned across the country. The question comes after Graham reportedly introduced legislation that would federally ban abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
Graham noted that he supported limitations on abortion.
“70 percent of Americans support limiting abortion when the unborn child can feel pain,” he said. But Bash challenged him again and asked whether it was a state issue or a federal issue.
“It’s a human rights issue,” he said before calling out Democrats for supporting abortion up until the moment of birth. Bash tried to correct him by claiming that Roe supported abortion up to viability, but Graham pushed back and accused the media of “covering for these guys.”
The FDA is being challenged by physicians after approving the abortion pill mifepristone. While the Supreme Court deliberates whether to restrict it, they have temporarily allowed it, according to Newsmax. Last week, Trump-appointed U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk cited safety concerns that were ignored throughout the approval process.
“There is also evidence indicating FDA faced significant political pressure to forego its proposed safety precautions,” he said, adding that “increased access” was the goal of the drug.
The Biden administration and Danco Laboratories are calling on the Supreme Court to deny placing any restrictions on the drug, alleging that doing so will put women’s health at risk. The pill induces abortions and is used along with misoprostol, which “empties the uterus.”
