Mike Pence Spokesperson Ends Speculation Over 2024 Paperwork

(PatriotWise.com) – Last Monday, a screenshot purportedly showing former Vice President Mike Pence’s official FEC filing for a 2024 presidential run made the rounds on social media. But a spokesman for Mike Pence said the former vice president did not file it.

The UK’s Sky News first reported the FEC filing on Monday. That report has since been removed.

The screenshot did come from an actual FEC Form 2 on its website showing a “Statement of Candidacy” submitted for “Mr. Mike Richard Pence” listing a post office box from Anderson, Indiana.

After eagle-eye reporters noticed that the filing was for “Mike” Pence instead of his given name “Michael,” Pence’s spokesman Devin O’Malley said in a now-deleted tweet that the former vice president had not filed with the FEC to run for president.

While it is not clear who filed the Statement of Candidacy, O’Malley told one Twitter user, “I think someone pranked you.”

Pence has suggested that he is considering running for the Republican nomination in 2024.

In an interview with ABC News in November, the former vice president said he would be discussing a possible run with his family over the holidays.

In a November interview with USA Today, Pence said he believes there is “a real desire for new leadership in the Republican Party,” adding that the people he’s met while traveling the country said they are proud of Trump’s record in office “but almost in the same breath,” they tell him “they want leadership that reflects the respect and civility that most Americans practice every day.”

During a recent interview on CBN News, Pence refused to describe former President Donald Trump as the leader of the Republican Party, calling him instead “a leader” and “an important voice in the party.”

Pence told CBN’s David Brody that he has confidence in Republican primary voters to do what “they’ve done so many times before” by choosing “the right standard bearer for this moment in our history.”
