(PatriotWise.com) — A Pennsylvania mother last week pleaded guilty to murdering her two sons last year and was sentenced to live in prison, CBS News reported.
Trinh Nguyen, 40, was charged in May 2022 with the shooting deaths of her 9- and 13-year-old sons in their Bucks County home and attempting to shoot her neighbor, the 22-year-old cousin of her sons.
According to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, Nguyen had planned the murders at least a week in advance and left a note instructing what should be done with the remains.
Nguyen pleaded guilty last Wednesday to two counts of first-degree murder and received two life sentences without the possibility of parole. She also pleaded guilty to one count of attempted murder, for which she received a maximum sentence of 10–20 years.
Police were called just after 7:00 a.m. on May 2, 2022, to the 100 block of Timber Ridge Road in Upper Makefield.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, the 22-year-old neighbor claimed that Nguyen gave him a box of photos and asked him to pass them along to her ex-husband. She then pointed a gun at his face and pulled the trigger twice. However, the gun failed to fire.
The neighbor then disarmed Nguyen before she fled the scene in a white minivan.
When responding officers arrived at the scene, they found Nguyen’s two children lying in their beds, suffering from gunshot wounds. The children were rushed to the hospital and died later in the week.
After fleeing the scene, Nguyen drove to New Jersey, where the District Attorney’s Office said she obtained narcotics.
Following her arrest, police found several empty heroin packages, ammunition for a .38-caliber handgun, and suspected blood.
Investigators also learned that Nguyen had been given notice of eviction and was to vacate her home by May 3, 2022, just one day after she murdered her children.
