A recent YouGov poll found that in a hypothetical 3-way race between Joe Biden, Donald Trump, and Ron DeSantis, Joe Biden would win.
Why on earth would YouGov poll something that ludicrous?
The survey also found that in hypothetical head-to-head match-ups between Biden and Trump and Biden and DeSantis. While Biden came out on top in both, he did better facing off with Trump than he did with DeSantis.
YouGov asked respondents whom they would choose if the 2024 presidential election was a three-way race between Biden, DeSantis, and Donald Trump running as a third-party spoiler.
Naturally, the Republicans divided between Trump and DeSantis, clearing the way for Biden to come out on top.
Among registered voters, 44 percent chose Biden, while 23 percent chose DeSantis and 18 percent chose the hypothetical 3-party spoiler, Trump.
YouGov then asked respondents about two separate head-to-head matchups. In the match-up between Biden and DeSantis, Biden came out on top, 43 percent to 40 percent. In the match-up between Biden and Trump, Biden topped the former president 45 percent to 40 percent.
While these surveys may be fun to conduct and help the Left frame narratives, they’re pretty much useless at this stage.
The 2024 presidential election is over two years away. In election politics, two years is an eternity.
At this point, polling presidential match-ups before the midterm elections are about as useless as teats on a bull.
Before any candidates had even announced they were running in the 2016 presidential election, Jeb! Bush was considered the “frontrunner.” And how did that work out for him?
