(PatriotWise.com) — In the first half of 2023, deep-pocketed billionaires have donated tens of millions of dollars to Senate Majority PAC, the PAC created by Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, to help ensure Democrats hold the Senate in the 2024 election, The Washington Examiner reported.
In the first six months of the year, Senate Majority PAC has raked in $37 million due in part to several wealthy leftist donors who combined poured $16 million into the PAC between February and June, according to FEC disclosures.
Democracy PAC II, a group founded by billionaire George Soros in 2021, donated $2.5 million to the Senate Majority PAC in June. Michael Vachon, Democracy PAC II’s treasurer, is a spokesman for Soros who was affiliated with Democracy Alliance a group Politico called “the country’s most powerful liberal donor club.”
Hedge fund manager Stephen Mandel contributed $3 million to Senate Majority PAC in June. In 2022, Mandel donated $5 million to the PAC Future Forward, a pro-Biden group with links to dark money groups.
Additionally, in May, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings gave Senate Majority PAC $2 million.
Longtime Democrat donor Fred Eychaner similarly donated $2 million to the PAC in June while former eBay president Jeffrey Skoll donated $1.5 million.
Entrepreneur Phillip Ragon, oil heiress Stacy Schusterman, and Deborah Simon, the daughter of film producer Melvin Simon, each gave $1 million to Senate Majority PAC between February and June.
Several other well-connected liberals donated half a million to Senate Majority PAC in the first six months of the year, including investor Henry Laufer, Laufer’s wife Marsha, and billionaire heiress Amy Goldman-Fowler.
Hollywood producer Jeffrey Katzenberg, who chairs the Biden Victory Fund, and billionaire Jon Stryker each donated $250,000 to Senate Majority PAC.
Both the Senate Majority PAC and the GOP Senate Leadership Fund combined spent hundreds of millions during the 2022 Midterm elections.
