Rep. Cawthorn Exposes Nasty Democrat Scheme To Take Guns

( Republicans Rep. Madison Cawthorn once again slammed the Democrats for planning new laws restricting the sale of guns to Americans.

Speaking to a North Carolina news affiliate, Cawthorn said that there is “no kind of legislation that can restrict people from obtaining a firearm that I believe is constitutional.”

He added that he doesn’t think there is “much of a middle ground that these kinds of woke liberals would be allowed to take.”

But Cawthorn didn’t just criticize – he offered some solutions instead. The North Carolina congressman argued that a better way to solve the issue of gun violence would be to address mental illness.

He also connected the recent tragic grocery store shooter in Colorado to President Joe Biden’s airstrikes in Syria – something that isn’t as outlandish as it sounds.

“Because they just started dropping bombs on Syria last month even though we had been reaching historic peace deals in the Middle East,” Cawthorn said. “And now this Syrian immigrant is shooting up people in Colorado. I think the two are linked.”

Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, the alleged Colorado shooter, turned out to be a Syrian-born immigrant. He killed ten people during the incident, and after photos of him being arrested were publish on Twitter, left-wing activists quickly assumed that he was a white American.

But he wasn’t.

In March, Democrats passed two new gun control bills. One measure passed 227-203, and is designed to stop the so-called “loophole” in background checks at gun shows. Only eight Republican members of the House joined Democrats in passing the bill, as many Republicans argue such a loophole does not exist.

The other bill, which passed 219-210, only had two Republicans siding with Democrats and would give federal authorities 10 business days to complete background checks for a gun sale, and then provide those some authorities the opportunity to pause the check for an indefinite period for people under investigation.

The new law could effectively stop some Americans from ever being able to legally purchase a gun.

Rep. Jim Jordan, a Republican who sits on the House Judiciary Committee, said that House Democrats are “making it harder for law-abiding citizens to buy a gun.”

Republicans like Jordan and Cawthorn are unlikely to back down on this, but with the Democrats controlling both the House and the Senate, they may not have much power to stop these new laws.
