(PatriotWise.com) — A Georgia school teacher was arrested in December after allegedly threatening to behead a student who complained about the Israeli flag in his classroom, NBC News reported.
Warner Robins Middle School teacher Benjamin Reese, 51, was charged on December 8 for making terroristic threats and third-degree cruelty to children, according to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the 18 students and multiple adults who witnessed the December 7 incident, the student told Reese that the Israeli flag in his classroom was offensive, and he responded by telling her he would “cut her head off.”
One teacher reported that Reese was yelling and calling the student anti-Semitic before threatening to slit her throat, drag her outside, and behead her.
Reese posted the $7,500 bond on December 10 and was released from jail.
The student Reese threatened initially reported the incident to the sheriff’s deputy assigned to the school. She said she noticed the Israeli flag in Reese’s classroom as she and two friends were passing. She and her friends went into the classroom to ask Reese about the flag because she thought it was offensive.
The student alleged that Reese told her he displayed the flag because he is Jewish and has family members living in Israel.
She began arguing with Reese, accusing Israel of murdering Palestinians. Reese then demanded to know if she thought Israel had a right to exist and accused her of being anti-Semitic. The student said she and her friends left the classroom with Reese following after them shouting vulgarities.
After receiving the report, the principal and the sheriff’s deputy confronted Reese as he was leaving.
In a statement, the Georgia chapter of CAIR praised the “swift action” taken against Reese for his “horrific threats.”
According to the Council on American-Islamic Relations, there have been over 2,000 requests for help from CAIR over alleged Islamophobic incidents or Muslim bias.
The Anti-Defamation League revealed on January 10 that antisemitic incidents have skyrocketed in the three months since the October 7 Hamas terror attacks on Israel, CNN reported.
Between October 7 and January 7, the ADL tracked 3,283 antisemitic incidents, marking a 361 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
