(PatriotWise.com) — Donald Trump said the White House is already engaging in election interference ahead of 2024. On his Truth social media account, the former President said the Department of Justice (DOJ) was framing him and trying to scupper his re-election campaign. He included Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and the FBI in his list of saboteurs, saying they are pursuing “illegal law enforcement against Republicans.”
President Trump added that Congress should defund the FBI and the DOJ “until they come to their senses.”
Trump posted his message days after the release of the Durham report, which concluded that the FBI did not have evidence of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign in the run-up to the 2016 Presidential election. It also noted significant differences in how the FBI dealt with President Trump compared to his rival Hillary Clinton. For example, Mrs. Clinton received “defensive briefings” from the FBI aimed at “those who may be the targets of nefarious activities by foreign powers.” Trump did not receive anything similar.
The report concluded that the FBI had failed to uphold the fidelity of the law. The federal agency said it had made important changes to prevent such failures from recurring.
Donald Trump reacted with fury to the report’s findings, saying the investigation should never have occurred and the American people must have justice for this “treasonous charade.”
The findings will encourage Republican claims that federal agencies are “weaponized” against Republicans and conservatives in America. GOP lawmakers created a special committee in January to investigate such instances. Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan chairs the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.
The committee held its first hearing on February 9th when Jordan stated the panel’s aims. He said its role was to investigate and bring to light the American government’s collaboration with big tech companies and federal agencies who seek to keep the American people in the dark and to intimidate and silence voices that do not agree with the White House agenda.
