Trump Boasts His Own Pandemic Response & Economy

(PatriotWise.com) — During a recent interview on SiriusXM’s “Stacy On The Right” on Tuesday, 2024, Republican presidential hopeful and former President Donald Trump praised his administration’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic during his tenure. He asserted, “We did an outstanding job addressing COVID,” attributing a resurgence in the economy and the country’s well-being to his leadership.

Starting at 11:50, Trump elaborated, “In 2016 and 2020, our performance was impressive. Yet, 2020 surpassed 2016 by nearly 12 million votes. While many highlight our 2016 achievements, we truly excelled in 2020. The outcome was, however, controversial. I garnered more votes than any incumbent President in history, a feat seldom achieved when a president seeks re-election. This surge in votes in 2020 over 2016 signifies the approval of our administration’s work, even amidst the COVID challenges. Initially, the virus was an enigma, but we efficiently managed the crisis, restoring the nation’s economy and well-being. In contrast, Biden’s tenure is marked by skyrocketing inflation.”

President Trump initiated and implemented the Paycheck Protection Program, preserving 51 million jobs in America. Under President Trump’s leadership, direct financial aid was provided to numerous Americans affected by the pandemic.

President Trump facilitated employee tax reductions through executive decisions, guaranteed unemployment assistance for the jobless, shielded families from evictions and foreclosures, and offered student loan relief for those impacted by the virus.

President Trump took many actions to address the COVID-19 pandemic, including:

  • Travel restrictions: On January 31, 2020, Trump issued an executive order restricting travel from China. This was the first travel restriction imposed by any country in response to the pandemic.
  • Testing: Trump’s administration oversaw the world’s most aggressive testing system. By the end of his presidency, the United States had conducted more than 300 million tests.
  • Mitigation measures: Trump’s administration enacted safety measures to slow the spread of the virus, such as mask-wearing and social distancing.
  • Supply chain: Trump’s administration mobilized the private and public sectors to secure supplies, such as ventilators, masks, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Vulnerable Americans: Trump’s administration protected vulnerable Americans, such as the elderly and people with underlying health conditions.
  • Vaccines and therapeutics: Trump’s administration launched an effort to deliver vaccines and therapeutics in record time. The first COVID-19 vaccine was approved in December 2020, and the first therapeutics were approved in early 2021.
  • Reopening: Trump’s administration paved the way for reopening the economy, which began in May 2020.
  • China: Trump’s administration accused China of the virus. Trump repeatedly called for China to be held accountable for the pandemic.

These are some of the actions that President Trump took to address the COVID-19 pandemic. His response was not perfect, but it was a significant effort to address a global health crisis.
