(PatriotWise.com) — The family of a Donald Trump donor died in a bizarre plane incident over Washington, DC. John Rumpel, a prominent donor to Trump and the National Rifle Association, said his “entire family” was aboard the private jet that crashed close to the George Washington National Forest near Montebello, Virginia. His daughter, 2-year-old granddaughter, and the little girl’s nanny died in the incident.
Officials from the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said fighter jets were scrambled from the Joint Base Andrews in Virginia on the afternoon of June 4th to intercept a private plane in the area. Reports say the pilot of the private craft did not respond when contacted by authorities. The plane crashed soon afterward.
It is unknown why the pilot did not respond or what caused the crash, but an anonymous inside source told the Washington Post the plane was not shot down and the military was not responsible for the accident.
When the fighter jets were scrambled, the super speed caused a sonic boom that could be heard by residents of the area, including President Biden who was playing golf nearby at the time. The President was briefed on the incident and the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) will lead an official investigation.
The FAA said the plane took off from Elizabethtown, Tennessee, on the morning of June 4th and was destined for MacArthur Airport on Long Island, New York. The plane turned around over Long Island and flew straight toward Washington, DC. Why the plane changed direction at that point and flew into one of America’s most protected airspaces, remains a mystery.
Flight records show the aircraft rapidly spiraling downward at a rate of 20,000 feet per minute before crashing in St. Mary’s Wilderness. Virginia State Police were notified of the crash at around 4 pm, and officers who attended the scene said there were no survivors.
Mr. Rumpel told the New York Times that nobody could survive a crash at that speed, and he suspects the plane may have lost pressurization.
