Trump Says It’s Time to Replace Mitch McConnell

( Former President Donald Trump’s recent interview with Lisa Boothe on her podcast last week has created a flurry of news stories, with the varied conversation revealing a lot about what Trump is thinking as we head towards the 2022 midterm elections.

During the discussion, the president discussed everything from Biden’s border crisis to the issue of the Senate filibuster, but it was his comments about Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell that really got people talking.

The former president explained how democrats would have never allowed what happened in the 2020 election to happen to them, and pinned much of the blame squarely on Senate Minority Leader McConnell.

“If you look at what had happened with the election, Mitch McConnell should have fought,” the president said. “He did nothing. He should have thought.”

“That could never have happened to a democrat, what happened to us with the presidential election,” Trump added. “It could never have happened to the Democrats. You would have had a revolution if the tables were turned. You would have literally had a revolution.”

Boothe asked the former president if he had spoken to the Senate Minority Leader, to which he responded, “I don’t really want to talk to him.”

McConnell was not on the former president’s side when it came to the issue of fraud and irregularities in the 2020 presidential election, dismissing hard evidence of ballots being cast under fake addresses and Republican ballot watchers being denied an opportunity to watch mail-in ballots being opened.

The then-Senate Majority Leader also refused to work with the president in objecting to the certification of some states’ election results, following a number of evidentiary hearings that heard evidence from dozens of eyewitnesses.

Former President Trump also offered insight into McConnell’s issue of Congressional Democrats preparing to get rid of the Senate filibuster, which would allow Democrats to push through radical left-wing policies over the next two years.

“Look, he’s hanging by a thread right now with respect to the filibuster. And if they get the filibuster, he’s hanging on Joe Manchin, who always goes with the Democrats,” Trump said, referring to West Virginia Democratic Senator Manchin.

“Joe talks, but he ends up going with the Democrats.”

President Trump also said he thinks that it’s time for the Republicans to have “better leadership than Mitch McConnell.”

“I mean, he can’t rein in his own people,” he added. “We have the Mitt Romneys of the world and, you know, the Ben Sasses of the world. These are not good for the Republican Party.”

President Donald Trump sounds like he’s gearing up to transform the Republican Party post-presidency.
