(PatriotWise.com)- On Thursday, President Biden will issue an order that all flags be flown at half-staff in remembrance of the one million people who died in the United States due to COVID-19.
Later in the day, he is scheduled to deliver a pre-recorded remark as part of his participation in the worldwide COVID-19 meeting.
Biden’s prerecorded message will include the following:
“One million empty chairs around the family dinner table. Each irreplaceable, irreplaceable losses. Each leaving behind a family or community forever changed because of this pandemic. Our heart goes out to all those who are struggling.”
Varying COVID-19 monitors have come up with different sums for the number of people in the United States who have succumbed to the coronavirus.
NBC News has collated statistics revealing that the COVID-19 virus has already claimed the lives of more than one million Americans. In contrast, the tracker maintained by Johns Hopkins University has a figure of just slightly above 998,000.
Even though cases are beginning to rise again across the United States, experts are not panicking because of the nature of the omicron subvariant known as BA.2 and the widespread immunity provided by vaccines and antibodies.
Even though public health experts claim that the epidemic is not finished, the United States is among the many nations learning to live with the virus. As part of this process, all states have dropped their COVID-19 mask regulations and requirements for social distancing.
On Thursday, Biden renewed his plea for extra COVID-19 funding from Congress.
Biden sought an additional $22.5 billion in March to tackle the virus, citing a shortage of diagnostic, vaccination, and treatment resources.
On Capitol Hill, lawmakers attempt to push through a trimmed-down $10 billion coronavirus aid plan. The administration’s effort to repeal Title 42, a pandemic-era restriction barring migration at the US border, has previously been rejected by Senate Republicans.
Democrats attempted to tie the COVID-19 package to additional money for Ukraine to assure its passage, but the two bills were uncoupled earlier this week.
The emergency coronavirus money, according to Biden, is “essential to safeguard Americans.”
Flags will be at half-mast until sunset, May 16th.
