(PatriotWise.com) — An Arizona woman was arrested last Wednesday after she allegedly drove to her estranged husband’s home in Prescott and shot him while he was in bed, AZ Central reported.
Prescott police officers responded to 911 reports of the shooting just after midnight and found Jon Pasqualetto, 80, suffering a gunshot wound to his wrist. Pasqualetto was treated at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital. He was then flown to a Phoenix-area hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.
According to Prescott police, Pasqualetto and his 62-year-old wife Christina had been separated for several months and were in the middle of a divorce, with Jon living in their Prescott home while Christina stayed in their home in Gilbert.
Christina admitted to the police that she did not want to divorce and drove from Gilbert to their Prescott home just before midnight, where she found Jon in bed. The two got into an argument about the divorce, and when Jon said he wouldn’t change his mind about divorcing her, Christina pulled out a pistol and shot him.
Afterward, a physical altercation ensued. Jon knocked Christina to the floor, and she lost hold of the gun. He then attempted to escape the house. After a brief struggle, he got free of Christina and ran to a neighbor’s house, where he called 911, according to the police.
Jon told police that the locks at the Prescott house had been changed, but he said the keys and other items had recently gone missing, and he believed Christina had taken them. He also alleged that Christina stole checks from his personal bank account and forged a check for $10,000, which she cashed about a week before the shooting.
During her interview with the police, Christina admitted that she forged the check and stole the keys. A deposit slip in the amount of $10,000 was found in her purse.
Christina was taken to the Yavapai County Jail and charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, theft, and forgery.
