Hamas Claim Of 20 People Killed, 150 Injured Dubious

(PatriotWise.com) — The Gaza Ministry of Health, which is run by Hamas, claimed that shelling by the Israeli military killed at least 20 people and injured another 155 who were waiting for food aid in northern Gaza City, UPI reported.

The details have not been independently verified, and all the sources cited in the UPI report are Hamas officials.

The Health Ministry accused the IDF of targeting civilians to commit a “massacre,” and claimed that the alleged shelling was proof of Israel’s “hidden intentions” for occupying Gaza.

Despite the lack of evidence, Hamas spokesman Mahmoud Basal last Thursday accused the IDF of killing civilians who were waiting for aid.

Last month, the Hamas Health Ministry accused the IDF of opening fire on civilians waiting for aid, killing over 100 and injuring 760. A subsequent investigation into the alleged attack determined that Israeli troops did not fire on the aid convoy. Instead, the IDF fired on several Palestinians who were moving toward an IDF checkpoint.

According to the investigation, Palestinian gunmen opened fire while looting the supplies, and many of the casualties were caused by the subsequent stampede.

The Hamas-run Health Ministry was also the source of the October 17 claim that an Israel airstrike destroyed the Al Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City and killed more than 500 people.

In reality, there was no airstrike, and the hospital was not destroyed. Instead, a faulty rocket fired from Gaza toward Israel crashed into the parking lot near the hospital and exploded, killing not 500 but about 10 people.

A detailed analysis of the Gaza Health Ministry’s civilian death toll numbers published in Tablet Magazine last week found that the numbers provided by Hamas are faked, especially the breakdown of women and children allegedly killed.

The analysis determined that the daily increase in alleged deaths was far too uniform to be accurate. Mathematically, there would be variations in the numbers from day to day.

Based on the anomalies in the data, the analysis concluded that the death count provided by Hamas “is likely to be extremely overstated.”
