(PatriotWise.com) — Two young children have been murdered in a terrorist attack in Israel. A 20-year-old newly married young man is also among the dead. The attack took place near the Tomb of Samuel in Jerusalem when a man driving a blue Mazda drove into a group of people standing at a bus stop. The terrorist, who was shot by police, was identified as Hossein Karaka, a 31-year-old resident of the Isawiya neighborhood of east Jerusalem. The Israeli government said Karaka had been glorifying Islamic terror groups on social media and praised other Palestinian killers as heroes. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had Karaka’s home demolished after the incident. His family members were arrested.
The two children killed in the attack were brothers Yaakov and Asher Palei, who were 6 and 8 years old. The young man who died was Alter Shlomo Laderman. The two brothers died a day apart, and Laderman passed away in hospital hours after the attack took place.
The press and social media reaction to the atrocity reveals a stark contrast in reporting, as is often the case with terror attacks in Israel. There were street celebrations held by Palestinians and a spokesman for Hamas, a terror group that is devoted to the annihilation of Jews, called it a heroic act. Similarly, the military wing of Fatah, a political party in the region, said, “We welcome the Occupied Jerusalem operation and see it as a natural response to the crimes of the occupation against our people everywhere.” The group also said such attacks will continue. These responses are not however published by the bulk of the Western media. The New York Times appeared to play down the attack and referred to Jerusalem as “an Israeli settlement.” CNN reported the murder by stating that “a car” had rammed into people. Writer Hadas Gold then added, “It occurred on land that Israel captured from Jordan in 1967 and then annexed.” CBS, in its coverage, repeatedly referred to Israel as an occupying force and included the shooting of a Palestinian by Israeli forces days earlier in its reporting.
