(PatriotWise.com) – Texas Senator Ted Cruz has lashed out at former Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger, calling him a “hack and a liar” for stating that the Senator had “made fun” of the attack on the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. In a tweet on January 27th, Kinzinger said that Cruz and other elected representatives including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Rep. Clay Higgins had engaged in conspiracy theories surrounding the attack and that Cruz had “amplified doubts that all facts were disclosed.”
In retaliation, Cruz called Kinzinger a liar and insisted that he had condemned the violence against Paul Pelosi and had prayed for the family. He added that his only mockery was aimed at the dishonest media who had falsely portrayed the attacker as a Trump supporter.
Paul Pelosi, the husband of the House Speaker at the time, was assaulted in his home in San Francisco last October. His attacker, David DePape, was arrested and charged with assault and attempted kidnapping. Pelosi suffered skull fractures and an injury to his hand. At the time, much of the mainstream media, as well as Democratic politicians, blamed Trump supporters and so-called “hate speech” for prompting the attack. Former President Barack Obama said the cause was politicians who “work to stir up division” while Hillary Clinton blamed Republican “mouthpieces” for spreading conspiracy theories. President Biden also blamed Donald Trump and said his language on January 6th at Capitol Hill had directly inspired Pelosi’s attacker.
The reality however was that DePape had no political affiliation with the Republican Party or right-wing politics in general. His neighbors described him as having left-wing political views and he has reportedly been a member of the Green Party. People who knew DePape said he was a follower of Black Lives Matter, a heavy drug user, and that he shared his home with nudists. He is also said to have suffered from paranoid delusions and psychosis and has a long history of homelessness.
