As China continues to extend its military reach, the US response involves enhancing support for Taiwan. The island nation operates independently with its own government, currency, and foreign policy, yet Beijing views it as a breakaway province.

The US maintains a policy of “strategic ambiguity,” ensuring an unpredictable stance concerning direct intervention in a Taiwan conflict. Yet, consistent legislative support, like the recent $360 million arms deal, underscores Washington’s commitment to Taiwan’s self-defense.
