Megadonor Lawyer Will Not Fundraise For Kamala Harris

(PatriotWise.com) — Within hours of President Joe Biden announcing that he would not seek the nomination to run for reelection and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democrat nominee, the Democrat Party’s ActBlue online fundraising site was inundated with more than $50 million in donations, making it the single largest online fundraising day since the 2020 election.

However, one prominent Democratic donor said he would not raise money for Vice President Harris.

Orlando-based attorney John Morgan, a major Biden donor, told ABC News that he wouldn’t fundraise for Harris, noting that if the Trump campaign could have chosen an opponent in November, they would have picked Harris.

Morgan explained in a post on X that to ask friends for money, campaign bundlers had to be “enthusiastic” about a candidate or “hoping for a political appointment,” adding, “I am neither.”

He said it would be up to “others” to raise money for a Harris campaign.

In a statement to The Hill, Morgan said he believed that Vice President Harris would lose in November and said he would have preferred a Democrat like Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear or outgoing Senator Joe Manchin but added that Harris was “a done deal.”

Within 24 hours of Biden’s endorsement of his vice president, the DNC and joint fundraising committees raked in over $81 million in campaign contributions, according to her spokesman, Kevin Munoz.

Munoz said the record single-day fundraising record represented the “grassroots energy and enthusiasm” that would win the election.

Another prominent donor, tech billionaire Vinod Khosla, also expressed some skepticism about Harris becoming the nominee.

Khosla said in a post on X that he preferred an open nomination process at the Democratic National Convention over a “coronation.” He suggested that the most important thing was to ensure that the Democrats nominated someone who is best positioned to defeat Donald Trump in November.

However, Democrats appear to want to avoid a showdown at the convention, with many prominent Democratic officials, including former President Bill Clinton and former 2016 nominee Hillary Clinton, endorsing Kamala Harris for the nomination.

Even some possible contenders to replace Biden, including Governors Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan and Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, have endorsed Harris.
