Eco Activists Vandalize Expensive Yacht In Protest

(PatriotWise.com) — Last weekend, Spanish climate activists spray-painted a yacht they claimed belongs to Walmart heiress Nancy Walton Laurie that was moored at a dock in the resort island of Ibiza, USA Today reported.

The group Futuro Vegetal posted a video on Twitter showing two activists spray-painting the yacht with blue and red paint and unfurling a banner reading, “You consume others suffer.”

In the video, one of the activists claimed that the world’s wealthiest 1 percent generates more pollution than the bottom 50 percent. They accused the wealthy of condemning the rest of the world to a “future of pain, misery, and desolation” while “destroying the planet.”

In another tweet, the activists claimed that the yacht they vandalized belonged to the Walmart heiress. In the accompanying video, one activist demands that people change what they are doing and warned that it is “a question of life or death,” adding that already climate change is “killing many people.”

The activists also decried the wealthy enjoying their lavish yachts at a time when boats filled with migrants from Africa and the Middle East are capsizing in the Mediterranean.

In a follow-up tweet, Futuro Vegetal said the two activists that vandalized the yacht had been detained by the Spanish Civil Guard.

According to Forbes, Nancy Walton Laurie, the daughter of Bud Walton, is worth $8.8 billion.

Futuro Vegetal claims that it uses civil disobedience to call attention to the so-called “climate crisis.”

In another incident last Friday, three activists tossed black and yellow paint on a private jet at the airport in Ibiza, forcing the runway to shut down for several hours.

The activists, from Futuro Vegetal and Extinction Rebellion, then climbed onto the wings holding lit flares while unfurling a banner reading, “Your luxury = our climate crisis.”
