Putin Regime Reports “Nuclear Terrorism” By The West

(PatriotWise.com) — Last Friday, after a Ukrainian drone exploded in the town of Kurchatov near the Kursk nuclear power station in Russia, the Kremlin accused the West of sponsoring “nuclear terrorism,” Reuters reported.

The governor of the Kursk region, Roman Starovoit, said the drone struck an apartment building in Kurchatov, the Soviet-era town built around the Kursk nuclear power station which is still in use.

In a message on Telegram, Starovoit revealed that the drone crashed and exploded Thursday night but no residents of the building were injured and no critical facilities were damaged. The façade and glazing on the building were damaged and authorities would assist residents in restoring their homes, Starovoit said.

Moscow reacted furiously to the news given the proximity to the Kursk nuclear power station.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova sarcastically asked if the countries supplying Ukraine with drones planned to “retire to Mars if there is a nuclear disaster.” Zakharova warned the people in NATO countries that their governments are funding “nuclear terrorism by the Kyiv regime.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the air defense systems have been effective but added that Ukraine was still trying to strike at targets within Russia.

Last August, Russia’s security service FSB said security around it had increased security around its nuclear facilities after reports that Ukrainian saboteurs had destroyed the electrical lines that supply the Kursk nuclear power station which temporarily disrupted functioning.

Alexei Likhachev, who heads Rosatom state nuclear corporation, told Russian state TV last Thursday that security at Russian power stations is “under control” and every necessary measure, including air defense systems, has been taken.

Throughout the war, both Russia and Ukraine have accused the other of risking a nuclear catastrophe at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Russian-controlled territory in southeastern Ukraine.

Earlier this month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelesnky warned that Russia might be planning to cause a nuclear incident by blowing up the Zaporizhzhia plant.
