(PatriotWise.com) – Comedian Jon Stewart last Monday hammered the Biden White House over its excuses for the president’s alarming debate performance late last month, which he described as its “redemption tour.”
During the “Indecision 2024” segment of “The Daily Show” on July 8, Stewart noted “troubling moments of disconnect” in Biden’s recent public appearances and played clips featuring the president’s gaffes and freezes that occurred before the June 27 CNN debate.
Stewart described Biden’s debate performance as a “shocking display of cognitive difficulty” that could be recognized by anyone who has dealt with an aging parent.
While he claimed that Donald Trump lied during the debate, he added that voters expected Trump “to be f*cking crazy,” but it was Biden’s “inability to articulate” that he found “stunning.”
Stewart said what made matters worse was the attempts by the president and the White House to spin Biden’s debate performance by offering what he described as “blatant bullsh*t.”
Stewart played video footage of press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s press briefing when she claimed that the president had a cold and was suffering from “jet lag” from his international travel earlier in June.
He noted that the president had been back for nearly two weeks before the debate and asked how big of a jet it was that Biden would still be jet-lagged two weeks later.
Stewart pointed out that the Biden campaign has claimed that it is “based on honesty and decency” and described the spin over the president’s debate performance as “blatant bullsh*t.”
Stewart also featured the portion of the president’s July 5 interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos when Biden said that if he lost to Trump, as long as he gave it his all, that was all it was about.
Stewart responded by shouting that that wasn’t what it was about and suggested that a Trump win would be the end of democracy.
At the same time, Stewart was quick to note that he wasn’t asking the president to drop out of the race and suggested that the Democrats needed to have a serious conversation with their nominee.
